I am a retired Federal civil servant having worked in the Immigration department for 32 years as an Immigration officer at different ports of entries (land and air), supervisor and lastly as the Director of operations for all of Eastern region in the last 10 years of my career. My immigration experience expands overseas having worked as Immigration Control officer in Rome, Paris, Genoa, Livorno and Madrid.
I have received many awards during my professional career such as the Director General Award, Deputy Minister Award, and Treasury Board Award related to the implementation of innovative temporary foreign worker program for high skilled workers.
Also, I was involved in 2 major humanitarian projects with the evacuation of the Kosovars in 1999 and facilitated their travel via the Canadian Embassy post in Rome. Lastly, I was involved in the major project of the Syrians in Montreal in facilitating the movement and settlement of over 15,000 Syrians in 2016 over a period of 4 months and collaborating with CBSA, Red Cross, Quebec Immigration, Service Canada, RCMP and the Canadian Military.
In May 2022, I successfully obtained my CICC license and have been practising as an ICCRC consultant on a full time basis.
